Amazon India announced on Monday that this year’s Prime Day will feature the launch of new products from over 450 leading brands, significantly expanding the selection available on the platform. The company is also extending its reach by collaborating with small businesses, including women entrepreneurs, local shops, and emerging brands, to offer over 3,200 new products. In partnership with brands like boAt, Samsonite (launching a new brand, Samsonite Red), Agaro and Samsung, Prime Day will also bring exclusive deals.

Prime Day is Amazon’s annual deal event held exclusively for Prime members. This year’s event kicks off on July 20 at midnight and continues through July 21 until 11:59 pm, offering Prime members discounts on smartphones, consumer electronics, TVs, appliances, Amazon devices, fashion & beauty, home & kitchen, furniture among others.

Last year alone, Amazon estimates that Prime members saved a combined Rs 300 crore.

Prime Day 2024 is expected to generate $13.3 billion in global sales. Market research firm Emarketer estimates that in 2023, Amazon’s global sales on Prime Day reached $12.5 billion.

The company announced that it will offer same-day delivery on one million items and next-day delivery on four million products. So far in 2024, half of all Prime orders in India have been fulfilled with same-day or next-day delivery.

Prime members will also enjoy early access to major sale events like the Great Indian Festival, along with no minimum order value for same or next-day deliveries.

Manish Menghani, director of content licensing for Prime Video India, said the platform enjoys viewership across 99% of Indian pin codes. To keep viewers engaged, the platform will premiere 15 movies and series across five languages following Prime Day. This includes titles like Mirzapur Season 3, The Boys Season 4, and Sharmajee Ki Beti. The recent launch of Crunchyroll on Amazon Prime Channels will provide anime fans access to its library of content through an add-on subscription.

The company also highlighted its new tiers, Prime Shopping Edition (for Rs 399 annually) and Prime Lite (for Rs 799 annually), which offer a strategic alternative to the existing Prime Annual plan. These new options provide an accessible entry point for budget-conscious consumers who prioritize shopping benefits but may not require the full suite of entertainment features offered by the traditional Prime Annual plan. The existing Prime Annual plan, priced at Rs 1,499, remains available and offers the complete experience, including ad-free 4K video streaming across five devices, access to Prime Music, Reading, and Gaming.
