The Tata Trust inducted Bhaskar Bhat and Neville Tata on Tuesday evening while Venu Srinivasan was appointed as vice chairman of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The update came mere days after Mehli Mistry parted ways with Tata Group. His term had come to an end on October 28 after three trustees including Noel Tata voted against a resolution for reappointment.
The Board of Trustees of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust held a meeting today and unanimously approved the induction of Bhaskar Bhatt and Neville Tata as Trustees with effect from November 12 for a period of three years. The Board also decided to appoint Venu Srinivasan as Trustee for a period of three years with effect from November 12 in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and to designate him as Vice Chairman of SDTT,” read a notice shared by the company.
Who are Bhaskar Bhat and Neville Tata?
Neville Tata is the 32-year-old son of Noel Tata who currently leads Star Bazaar. He had obtained his business degree from Bayes Business School before joining the packaged food and beverage vertical of Trent in 2016. He later took over the reins for Zudio — leading one of the fastest growing apparel formats till last year.
71-year-old Bhaskar Bhat has spent multiple decades working with the Tata Group after obtaining his degrees from IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad. He had joined the Tata Watch Project (later Titan) in 1983 and eventually took over as MD in April 2002. He had held the role till his retirement in September 2019, and remains actively involved in the Tata Group through various governance and philanthropic roles.
