Chennai-based AFCOM Holdings Limited (AFCOM) has inducted the third aircraft into its freighter fleet, strengthening its air cargo operations amid sustained demand growth.
Fleet Specifications and Strategic Leasing
The newly inducted aircraft is a Boeing 737-800 freighter, similar to the company’s first two aircraft—registered VT-AFN and VT-AFO—which have an average age of around 25.5 years. The third aircraft is approximately 23 years old. All three aircraft were originally built in passenger configuration and were subsequently converted into full freighters by their previous operators. All three aircraft operating for the cargo airline are acquired on lease.
Expanding International Reach and Specialised Services
AFCOM currently operates cargo flights from Chennai to international regional destinations including Male, Colombo and Hanoi, among others.
With Chennai serving as its primary operational hub, the additional aircraft will enhance the company’s ability to cater to rising demand across multiple cargo segments, including time-sensitive and specialised shipments. Founded in 2013, AFCOM Holdings offers a diversified service for transporting General Cargo, Flying Fresh, Flying Pharma, Flying Priority, Fly Courier, Project Cargo, Dangerous Goods and High-Value Cargo.
