A major air disaster was narrowly averted at Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport after a Batik Air Boeing 737, caught in extreme weather, struggled to land amid torrential rain and fierce winds.
The incident was captured on camera and has since gone viral across social media. The aircraft identified as Flight PK-LDJ faced intense turbulence upon touchdown. Reports described the plane sharply tilting to one side, with one wing alarmingly close to scraping the runway.

Despite the challenging weather, the pilot successfully regained control, correcting the aircraft’s trajectory and bringing it to a safe stop. The quick, composed response from the cockpit likely prevented a devastating crash, just days after the fatal Air India accident in Ahmedabad that claimed at least 270 lives.
The video shows the Batik Air jet wobbling violently, struggling against crosswinds that nearly pushed it off its axis. Authorities have launched an internal review, but no injuries were reported.
The scare comes in the wake of global scrutiny on Boeing jets, especially after the June 12 Air India crash in Ahmedabad, where a Dreamliner plummeted shortly after takeoff, killing 240 on board and several on the ground.
In a separate incident, a Vietnam Airlines plane collided with another aircraft from its own fleet on the tarmac of Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on Friday. The incident took place when a Boeing 787, taxiing for departure to Ho Chi Minh City, struck the tail section of a parked Airbus A321.
Dramatic footage of the accident, now circulating widely on social media, captured the Boeing’s right wing slicing into the Airbus’s tail stabiliser. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew after the accident.
