Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private carrier, is set to capitalize on Vietnam’s growing popularity as an emerging tourism destination for Indian travelers by expanding its services to India.
New Route: Tiruchirappalli to Ho Chi Minh City
In November, the airline plans to launch a new route connecting Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This expansion is part of Vietjet’s efforts to connect more Indian cities with Vietnam.
Existing Routes: Kochi to Ho Chi Minh City
Earlier this year, Vietjet also introduced direct flight services from Kerala’s Kochi to Ho Chi Minh City, enhancing connectivity between the two countries.
Rising Demand and Future Plans
Vietjet currently operates 32 return flights between India and Vietnam each week. With the new Tiruchirappalli route, the airline aims to meet the increasing demand from travelers in both countries.
The airline envisions expanding its services to all capital cities in India in the future.
Boosting Tourism and Bilateral Growth
Vietjet’s entry into the Indian market has significantly increased the number of passengers traveling between Vietnam and India in the first half of 2023. The expansion is seen as a catalyst for sustainable growth in tourism, trade, and the economy in both Vietnam and India.
More Aircrafts
Having operated for over a decade with approximately 450 daily flights across 120 routes, Vietjet has established itself as a key player in connecting Vietnam with other countries across Asia and Australia. The airline recently added a seventh A330 aircraft to its fleet to meet growing demand in the region. By the end of 2023, Vietjet plans to have a total of 10 A330s.
