A bomb threat made by an unidentified caller on Wednesday, targeting Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was confirmed to be a hoax, according to a police official. The caller informed airport authorities that a bomb had been planted on an IndiGo flight and threatened to blow up the airport, Additional Superintendent of Police Anand Kaladagi told PTI.
Following an investigation, the threat was found to be false. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) lodged an FIR against the unknown individual under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), Kaladagi said. The police’s cyber cell is now investigating the incident.
Notably, this threat comes amid a series of similar incidents, as more than 170 flights operated by Indian carriers have received bomb threats over the past nine days, many delivered via social media, leading to the diversion of some international flights.
