Two executives from the senior managerial team of low-cost airline SpiceJet have reportedly quit the airline. Arun Kashyap, chief operating officer, and Shilpa Bhatia, chief commercial officer, have put down their papers for unspecified reasons.

SpiceJet spokesperson said, “As part of SpiceJet’s strategic restructuring, several members of the commercial team including the Chief Commercial Officer have left the company with immediate effect. The Company continues to see significant growth in revenue and load factor. With the recent fund raise, SpiceJet has speeded up the process of resolution of all past disputes. The Company looks forward to adding capacity, growing rapidly and continuing to play a large role in the Indian aviation sector.”

These are the two executives who made headlines in October last year when their spouses became directors in a new company called Sirius India Airlines.

The directors were Meenakshi Kashyap, wife of Arun Kashyap and Ajay Bhatia, husband of Shilpa Bhatia.

The resignations come on a day when SpiceJet, through a meeting of its board of directors, approved an allotment of 3.46 million equity shares at an issue price of Rs 50 each to Elara India Opportunities Fund.
