On Friday, SpiceJet informed that it secured rights to operate Haj flights from seven cities in the country.
The crisis-hit airline company said that Haj flights have been an important revenue generator for it. Presently, the company is working on revival.
“In the current fiscal year, SpiceJet garnered a revenue of Rs 337 crore from Haj operations, operating flights from five Indian cities. This year, the airline anticipates even higher revenue from its Haj operations,” it said in a release, reported news agency PTI.
SpiceJet will operate Haj flights from seven cities – Bhopal, Indore, Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Aurangabad and Vijayawada.
On May 9, with flights to Medina, the first phase of Haj operations is scheduled to start. For the Haj operations, the company said it intends to take at least three wide-body planes on wet lease. In 2023, specifically for the Haj operations, it had inducted three such planes.
