Indian budget carrier SpiceJet’s managing director, Ajay Singh, and Busy Bee Airways have submitted a bid for the bankrupt Indian airlines Go First. In a press release from today, SpiceJet said that Singh has submitted the bid in his personal capacity along with Busy Bee Airways.

What did SpiceJet say?

The press release announced SpiceJet’s role as the operational partner for the upcoming airline, offering staffing and services. This partnership is expected to create synergies between the two airlines, resulting in enhanced cost management, increased revenue, and a fortified market presence in the Indian aviation sector, the release said.

Singh expressed a strong belief in the significant potential of Go First. He emphasised the possibility of revitalising Go First through close collaboration with SpiceJet, foreseeing mutual benefits for both airlines.

“Apart from coveted slots at domestic and international airports, international traffic rights, and an order for over 100 Airbus Neo planes, Go First is a trusted and valued brand among flyers. I am happy to contribute to the efforts aimed at reviving this popular airline and leveraging its strengths for mutual growth and success,” he said in the release.

Plagued by financial difficulties, Go First ceased operations in May of last year and is currently undergoing insolvency proceedings.

Immediate details regarding Busy Bee Airways could not be confirmed at this time.
