SpiceJet has announced the launch of new UDAN flights connecting Shivamogga in Karnataka with Chennai and Hyderabad, starting October 10, 2024. This marks Shivamogga’s debut on SpiceJet’s domestic network and is the airline’s first new destination following its successful Rs 3,000 crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), which supports its expansion plans, according to an official press release.
The new flights will operate daily, except Tuesdays, offering convenient travel options between Shivamogga and key metro cities, boosting tourism, trade, and regional development. Additionally, SpiceJet will introduce double daily flights between Chennai and Kochi from the same date, catering to the high demand on this busy route.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet, said: “This expansion underscores our commitment to enhancing regional connectivity through the UDAN scheme and providing affordable, seamless travel options across India. The double daily flights between Chennai and Kochi also reflect our focus on meeting the growing demand on this key route.”
Shivamogga, joins SpiceJet’s network as part of its effort to connect Tier-2 cities with major urban centers. The airline will operate 78-seater De Havilland Canada Q-400 aircraft on these routes. Bookings are now open via SpiceJet’s website, mobile app, online travel portals, and travel agents.
