The city of Mumbai has been severely affected by heavy rains, causing significant disruptions across various modes of transportation. On Tuesday, operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) resumed following a temporary halt on Monday due to the relentless downpour. 

Both road and rail networks have also experienced extensive delays, leaving commuters stranded and highlighting the city’s vulnerability to extreme weather conditions.

How many flights have been affected today?

At the time of writing this report, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport saw 82 flights being delayed in arrivals, while 10 others were cancelled. Meanwhile, in case of departures, 166 flights were delayed and 10 were cancelled.

According to the latest data from FlightRadar24, in departures 76% of flights are experiencing delays, with an average delay of 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, the scenario for arrivals seems to be better with an average delay of 5 minutes.

396 flights delayed, 36 cancelled on July 8

According to Flightradar24’s website, as many as 396 flights were delayed and 36 were cancelled at Mumbai‘s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on July 8. Reports also suggest that 27 diverted due to low visibility from continuous heavy rain. IndiGo reported disruptions to its Mumbai flights due to heavy rain. Similarly, SpiceJet and Vistara also cautioned passengers about potential disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions.

Several airlines have issued advisories noting delays, diversions, or cancellations of flights arriving at and departing from Mumbai due to heavy rains. Passengers have been informed of options to choose alternate flights or receive full refunds.
