The much-anticipated landing test at Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, originally scheduled for Friday, has been postponed to the last week of November. This trial is a crucial step in preparing the airport for full-fledged operations.
Landing Trial Postponement Confirmed
A senior NIAL official confirmed the delay, stating, “The trial will happen in the last week of November. We have no further information as of now.” The test aims to evaluate the airport’s runway, Instrument Landing System (ILS), and other critical infrastructure.
Approvals Already Secured
According to another official, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already granted approvals for the runway, ILS, and calibration flight. “We will conduct a one-day trial, and the data will be submitted to the DGCA as part of the aerodrome licensing application process,” the official explained.
Second Stage of Trial Operations
Arun Veer Singh, CEO of NIAL, previously announced that the second stage of trial operations would begin on November 15. This phase involves daily flights from airlines like Akasa, IndiGo, and potentially Air India, running until December 15.
Data Submission for Licensing
Singh emphasised that the testing data would be uploaded to the DGCA website by December 20, forming a key component of the airport’s aerodrome licensing application. Full commercial operations at the Jewar airport are expected to commence following the successful completion of trials and approval processes.
The Jewar Airport, poised to become a major aviation hub, continues to make strides towards its operational readiness, with trials marking significant milestones in its development timeline.
