Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Monday launched government-owned regional carrier Alliance Air’s “Fair Se Fursat” scheme, aimed at curbing volatility in flight ticket prices.
The initiative seeks to reduce the stress caused by unpredictable airfares by introducing a fixed fare system for passengers. Under the scheme, travelers will be able to book tickets at a constant price — regardless of the booking date — including last-minute purchases on the day of travel.
To evaluate its operational feasibility and passenger response, the scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis from October 13 to December 31, across select routes. Speaking at the launch event, the minister said the initiative aligns with the government’s broader aviation goals of improving accessibility and affordability.
The fixed fare model is expected to make air travel more predictable, especially for passengers who need to book at short notice.
“The static fare system eliminates uncertainty and stress associated with fluctuating airfares, ensuring predictability of costs, even for last-minute bookings,” the minister added.
