Travelers from Bihar will soon enjoy direct flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Darbhanga airport, as IndiGo has received approval to operate on these routes.

JDU National Executive President and MP Sanjay Kumar Jha took to X earlier this week to announce the launch of these flights.

Starting the tweet he wrote, “Good news for Mithila residents: Indigo flights will start from Darbhanga Airport from December 1!”

He revealed that due to the “sudden cancellation” of flights from the airport, passengers were facing issues and it also marred their confidence in the airport. However,  Kumar said that he met with the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu in September regarding the issues. He said that he had submitted a “detailed memorandum regarding removing the problems of passengers traveling from Darbhanga Airport and making it an international level airport by expanding the runway”.

“Then on 23 September 2024, in a meeting with the Special Director of IndiGo at our residence in Delhi, the issue of starting the company’s flight service from Darbhanga Airport was discussed in detail,” he added.

Now, IndiGo will be operating direct flights from Darbhanga to Delhi daily, while services to Mumbai will be available four times a week. The services will commence on December 1.
