Chaos ensued at multiple airports, particularly at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, following a significant technical glitch experienced by IndiGo Airlines around 12:30 PM on Saturday. This “temporary system slowdown,” as described by the airline, resulted in delayed check-ins and extended waiting times, leaving numerous passengers stranded.
In the midst of this congested scenario, a video surfaced on social media showing bewildered passengers standing in long queues at the Bengaluru airport.
“Booked a last-minute flight coz I desperately needed to get home ASAP—only for the servers to crash and the flight to get delayed. So now, instead of zooming through the skies, I’m stuck in an airport purgatory where the only thing flying is my patience… out the window,” a user wrote on X.
On Saturday afternoon, IndiGo acknowledged the glitch and released an advisory, assuring passengers that the issue would be resolved as quickly as possible. The airline stated that they are currently experiencing a temporary slowdown across their network, which is affecting their website and booking system. Consequently, customers may encounter increased wait times, including slower check-ins and longer queues at the airport.
“Our airport team is available and fully dedicated to assisting everyone and ensuring a smooth journey. Be assured, we are working diligently to restore stability and normalcy as quickly as possible,” the airline added. IndiGo did not provide details regarding the cause of the significant technical issue.
