IndiGo has deployed two planes to Istanbul to repatriate passengers stranded in the Turkish capital after a flight was cancelled due to a technical issue. The disruption, which began on Thursday, left hundreds of travellers waiting for over 24 hours at Istanbul Airport.

The incident has also caused delays for several flights to Delhi and Mumbai. Frustrated passengers took to social media to express their anger, citing concerns about the prolonged delay and insufficient essential facilities during the wait.

Delays impact flight schedules

The delay in flights from Istanbul to Delhi and Mumbai directly impacted IndiGo’s operations and severely affected the flights on these particular routes. On Saturday, Indigo confirmed that flight 6E 12, which was slated to fly from Istanbul to Delhi, was cancelled on Friday because of a technical error with the aircraft. The airline has stated that efforts are being taken to inform the customers regarding the delays. A clarification was also given by the airline that accommodations and refreshments were also given to the passengers where possible.

IndiGo runs two daily flights to Istanbul by using leased Boeing 777 aircraft, one is from Mumbai and the other one is from Delhi. The airline has also arranged alternative flights to make sure that passengers reach their destinations. IndiGo has expressed regret because of the inconvenience caused to the passengers and understanding the situation.

IndiGo makes alternative arrangement

As per PTI sources, IndiGo has allocated two Airbus A321 planes to Istanbul to bring back the stranded passengers. The details regarding the total number of passengers affected by Friday’s cancellation have not been shared by the airline. As per reports, about 400 passengers who were travelling to Mumbai and Delhi were stuck for more than 12 hours. Several complaints related to lack of accommodations and food were highlighted because of the delay.

Meanwhile, IndiGo is making efforts to resolve the issue and ensuring that its flyers are being provided with the necessary support.
