An IndiGo flight on its way to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport in Pakistan. The landing was made due to a medical emergency onboard.
The aircraft, en route from New Delhi, was in Pakistani airspace when a 55-year-old Indian male passenger fell seriously ill, according to sources from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), as reported by Geo News.
“The pilot of the Indian airlines contacted the air traffic control at the Karachi airport after the passenger did not get better even after he was given oxygen,” the source revealed.
The air traffic control then allowed the airline to land in Karachi on humanitarian grounds. A medical team went inside the aircraft to give emergency treatment to the passenger.
Once the issue was resolved, the flight departed from Karachi and returned to New Delhi instead of proceeding to Jeddah, as per sources.
