Southern cities report significant disruptions

Southern cities have also seen a noticeable impact. Chennai has reported cancellations on its Delhi and Patna routes, while Bengaluru has lost flights to and from Delhi, Ranchi, Goa (Mopa) and Chandigarh.

Other southern airports affected include Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Madurai, mainly due to disruptions on Delhi-linked services.

In western India, several flights have been cancelled at airports including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Goa (Mopa). Routes such as Mumbai-Delhi, Pune-Delhi, Pune-Amritsar, Pune-Chandigarh and Nagpur-Goa have been affected. Goa’s Mopa airport has also seen cancellations on services to Delhi, Nagpur, Bengaluru and Chandigarh.

IndiGo issues fog-related travel advisory

Late on Saturday night, IndiGo issued a travel advisory warning that dense fog in the early morning hours could reduce visibility across Delhi and parts of northern India, leading to sudden disruptions in flight operations. The airline said its teams are closely tracking weather conditions to manage the situation.

“Early-morning fog is expected to affect visibility across Delhi and parts of northern India. During these hours, visibility can reduce suddenly, impacting flight operations. Our teams will remain fully prepared through the night, monitoring the weather minute by minute,” the advisory said.

Eastern and northeastern regions have not been spared either. Flights between Kolkata and Ranchi, as well as Kolkata and Chandigarh, have been cancelled, while services between Dibrugarh and Delhi have also been suspended. Cities like Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Ranchi are among those impacted, mainly due to cancelled flights to Delhi.

Passengers travelling on December 21 have been advised to check their flight status with the airline before leaving for the airport, as delays and last-minute cancellations are still possible. IndiGo is expected to continue updating schedules based on weather and operational conditions and travellers, especially those flying via Delhi and other major hubs, are urged to plan their journeys accordingly.
