IndiGo, the largest domestic airline in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Noida International Airport (NIA), becoming the launch carrier for the new airport. The MoU was signed in Delhi, with the aim of developing and strengthening air connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and beyond.

NIA is a greenfield airport located in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, about 75 km from Delhi. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2024 and will be the second international and third commercial airport in the National Capital Region (NCR).

IndiGo to Explore New and Innovative Ideas

The partnership between NIA and IndiGo will explore new and innovative ideas to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. NIA’s CEO Christoph Schnellmann said that the partnership will help bolster air connectivity and innovation, and provide passengers with unparalleled connectivity and an exceptional travel experience.

IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers said that the airline is excited to partner with NIA and become its launch carrier. He said that IndiGo has always been at the forefront of enhancing connectivity and giving wings to the nation and that its operations at NIA will provide seamless connectivity to the people of Uttar Pradesh across its network.

He also said that he looks forward to the inauguration of the new airport in 2024 and working with NIA management to deliver an affordable, on-time, and hassle-free travel experience across the 6E network.
