Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Wednesday (December 11) inaugurated the Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) and unveiled an AI-powered digital platform at Hyderabad Airport. This pioneering initiative marks a significant milestone in the evolution of airport management, setting the stage for a more efficient, secure, and passenger-friendly experience in India’s airports.

Advancing Airport Efficiency with Real-Time Data

Naidu emphasised that with increasing air traffic, advancements in airport management are crucial. He noted that the new facility, which integrates airside, landside, and terminal operations, will enhance decision-making through real-time data, reducing disruptions, and improving overall efficiency. “This new facility will be a milestone for future airport operations,” Naidu remarked, pointing out that the system will provide both cost savings and improved safety for air travel.

A Seamless Travel Experience

The real-time monitoring system implemented by the APOC aims to optimize airport operations while ensuring a seamless passenger experience. “We have to focus on making air travel more accessible, affordable, and convenient,” said Naidu. The AI-driven digital platform, which will eventually be replicated at other airports, is designed to create a frictionless travel experience by integrating advanced features such as intelligent crowd management, flow and queue analytics, and behaviour analytics.

Shaping the Future of Air Travel

SGK Kishore, Executive Director – South and Chief Innovation Officer at GMR Airports, highlighted the impact of the new technology: “Our new AI-enabled digital platform and APOC set new standards in modernising operations and elevating passenger satisfaction. By integrating real-time data and advanced analytics, we ensure smooth passenger flow, reduced wait times, and personalized services.” The facility will significantly reduce operational inefficiencies, shape the future of air travel, and enhance safety and satisfaction for passengers.

Replicable Across India’s Airports

The vision for the new system extends beyond Hyderabad Airport. Naidu revealed plans to expand these innovations to other airports, with Delhi being the next to receive a similar facility. Additionally, the facility’s successful implementation will serve as a model for future airport management across the country, aligning with the government’s goal to increase the number of airports in India and further improve air travel infrastructure.

By integrating the latest technological advancements, the launch of APOC at Hyderabad Airport is set to transform how passengers experience air travel in India. This milestone not only enhances operational efficiency but also aligns with the government’s broader vision of making air travel more accessible, affordable, and convenient for everyone.
