IndiGo and Air India cancelled their flights to Bali on Wednesday due to ash clouds from volcanic eruption on the Indonesian island. Earlier this month, Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki, located on a remote island in East Nusa Tenggara province, erupted, releasing ash clouds that could disrupt flight operations. As a precaution, several airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, have suspended their services to Bali. IndiGo and Air India operate daily flights to Bali from Bengaluru and Delhi, respectively.
“#6ETravelAdvisory: Due to a recent volcanic eruption in #Bali, flights to/from the region have been cancelled, as ash clouds may impact air travel,” IndiGo wrote on X.
Air India announced the cancellation of its Delhi-Bali flights (AI 2145 and AI 2146) scheduled for Wednesday, citing unfavorable weather conditions caused by the recent volcanic eruption.
“All possible efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience caused to our customers, due to this unforeseen situation, including complimentary rescheduling, accommodation in next available flight(s) or full refunds to those who opt for it,” the airline said.
The flight, previously operated by Vistara before its merger with Air India, was affected by the disruptions. Earlier, Congress leader Pawan Khera posted on X, tagging Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, requesting assistance for passengers stranded in Bali.
In response, Naidu assured that the ministry was collaborating with Air India to address the situation and prioritize the safety and convenience of the passengers.
