Honeywell Automation India Limited (HAIL) has been awarded a significant contract to supply its advanced Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system for the Noida International Airport (NIA). This state-of-the-art technology will enhance visual guidance for aircraft operations, increasing safety and streamlining movements across the tarmac.

The AGL system will be instrumental in assisting aircraft during difficult weather conditions, supporting both landing and on-ramp safety. Leveraging ‘intelligent lighting’ technology, Honeywell’s AGL system simplifies the ground taxi process for pilots. The system automatically adjusts lighting based on data received from aircraft surveillance and tracking systems, thus improving situational awareness for pilots as they navigate the airport.

Atul Pai, Managing Director of Honeywell Automation India Limited, stated, “Noida International Airport represents a significant leap forward in advancing India’s aviation sector, and we are pleased to have secured this visionary project. We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency with our advanced technology.”

Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting, “We are delighted to partner with Honeywell to bring their Airfield Ground Lighting system to Noida International Airport. The implementation of this state-of-the-art system will ensure superior visual guidance and operational efficiency, aligning with our mission to provide a safe and seamless experience for all airport users.”

The project encompasses the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Honeywell’s AGL system on runway 10L-28R and the related taxiways. Honeywell’s comprehensive portfolio includes end-to-end AGL system operations across India, involving design, manufacturing, assembly, installation, and service support.

With the airport’s first phase featuring one runway and terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, the full completion of all four phases will allow NIA to accommodate up to 70 million passengers per year, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation landscape.
