Authorities at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda received bomb threats related to two separate flights, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes, according to airport officials.

A threat concerning an Akasa Air flight at Bhubaneswar Airport was reported via social media, but it was determined to be false, an official stated on Thursday (October 24). In response to the incident, security measures were heightened at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).

“We have received a hoax threat on ‘X’ that bombs have been fixed on an Akasa Air flight. Following standard operating procedure (SOP), we have cleared the flight and it departed for its destination,” BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan said. He added that security had been intensified at the airport.

In a similar incident, authorities at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda were alerted to a bomb threat concerning a Bengaluru-Jharsuguda IndiGo flight.

“After getting information about this, we followed the procedure and decaled it as a hoax call,” Jharsuguda Airport Director Sandeep Kumar Tiwari said. He confirmed that the flight departed after all required examinations were conducted.
