As winter tightened its grip on the northern regions of India, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi faced disruptions in flight operations due to low visibility caused by dense fog. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital witnessed ‘very dense’ to ‘dense fog’ in various parts of the city in the morning.
Delhi has been experiencing ‘cold day’ conditions for the past few days with the minimum temperature settling at 9.4 degrees Celsius on Friday amidst inclement weather. The adverse weather conditions have become a common challenge during the winter season, leading to delays for both domestic and international flights.
Flight disruptions in Chandigarh, Jaipur and more
The flight delays were not just limited to the Capital city, other northern states including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Jammu also faced disruptions.
IndiGo on Saturday anticipated disruptions to multiple flights as inclement weather conditions prevail in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Jammu. The adverse weather has particularly impacted flight operations in Jammu, Udaipur, and Chandigarh.
“Multiple flights are expected to be impacted due to inclement weather in #Chandigarh #Amritsar #Jaipur #Lucknow #Varanasi & #Jammu,” IndiGo said in a tweet on Saturday morning.
