Amid escalating anti-government protests in Bangladesh, Air India on Tuesday cancelled its morning flight to Dhaka from New Delhi. The protests have plunged the country into uncertainty after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to quit and flee due to extraordinary street demonstrations over job quota reforms.

Flight Cancellations

In response to the unrest, IndiGo and Vistara have also cancelled all their flights to Dhaka on Tuesday. Vistara operates daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to the Bangladesh capital. An airline official stated that Air India has cancelled its morning flight and will decide later in the day whether to operate its evening flight to Dhaka. According to the schedule, Air India operates two flights daily to Dhaka from Delhi.

Air India’s Statement

“In view of the emerging situation in Bangladesh, we have cancelled the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges,” an Air India spokesperson said on Monday.

The ongoing protests and resulting disruptions have created significant challenges for airlines operating in the region, prompting swift action to ensure passenger safety and minimize inconvenience.
