Flight operations at Chennai International Airport resumed early Sunday after being temporarily suspended due to Cyclone Fengal, which crossed the North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts late Saturday night.

The cyclone, classified as a cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 65-75 km/h gusting up to 85 km/h, disrupted transportation across the region. Airlines issued advisories and updated flight schedules, but many passengers faced long delays. Shiva, a passenger traveling to Abu Dhabi, shared his ordeal: “We’ve been waiting since 8 PM last night. The airline hasn’t responded or provided any assistance.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that Cyclone Fengal made landfall near Puducherry between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM IST, causing heavy rain and strong winds. The storm is expected to weaken into a deep depression.

Authorities have relocated residents from vulnerable areas to relief camps near Kalpakkam in Chengalpattu district. Efforts are underway to restore normalcy.
