Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu visited the Prayagraj Airport in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday to review the ongoing work of the new terminal building under construction. Ministry of Civil Aviation Secretary V Vualnam, Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Vipin Kumar, AAI Member (Planning) Anil Kumar Gupta, and a team of engineers accompanied Naidu. A detailed inspection was conducted by them, as per an official release by the AAI.
Current status of terminal construction work
The project team stated to the visiting delegation that two phases of the terminal’s construction had been completed whereas work on the third phase is currently under process. Highlighting the significance of the terminal’s timely completion, Naidu has instructed the team to escalate the remaining work and to ensure that it gets ready by January 2025, ahead of the Maha Kumbh. He also underlined the significance of seamless coordination with the state authorities and regulatory bodies like DGCA and BCAS. All the necessary approvals for the terminal’s commissioning are also secure, Naidu added.
Ongoing projects related to Maha Kumbh 2025
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also conducted a review meeting at Prayagraj’s Circuit House to monitor the preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025. This time the event has been planned as a ‘’Green Maha Kumbh,’’ with a main focus on enhancing facilities for pilgrims. Among the ongoing projects is the construction of a unique floating jetty at Sangam. The design has been made in such a way that offers pilgrims a convenient space for bathing along with room facilities nearby.
Around 100-bed hospital deployed with specialist doctors at the Parade Ground in Maha Kumbh Nagar has been constructed to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrims. This facility will cater to devotees and saints during the festive period. The Maha Kumbh 2025 is all set to begin with Paush Purnima Snan on 13 January and will end with the Mahashivratri Snan on 26 February.
