Air India has announced that heavy rainfall in Mumbai is affecting its flights to and from the city. The airline has advised the passengers to start early for the airport given the slow traffic and waterlogging. 

It further asked them to check their flight status before making a move to the airport.

Similarly, IndiGo also said that its flights have also been affected by the rain, advising its passengers to keep a tab on the flight status.

Flight delay at Mumbai airport

The Mumbai airport is currently facing some delay in its flight operations. As per the data by FlightRadar24, there is an average delay of 15 minutes in arrivals, while about 3% of the flights have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, in departures, there is an average delay of 42 minutes, with 84% of the flights cancelled.

Today, Mumbai continued to experience relentless rain, with intermittent spells of moderate to heavy showers causing disruptions to public transport and traffic. The downpour led to waterlogging in low-lying areas such as Sion, prompting authorities to divert road traffic. In the western suburbs, the Andheri subway between Andheri and Jogeshwari railway stations was closed to traffic due to flooding. Additionally, several BEST bus routes were diverted as a result of the heavy rain.

Between Thursday and Friday morning, the Santacruz Observatory recorded  116 mm rain, meanwhile the Colaba coastal observatory received 86 mm rain.
