The passengers of Air India‘s flight from Delhi to San Francisco which was diverted to Krasnoyarsk Airport in Russia, have reached San Francisco. The airline has announced that the stranded passengers have reached safely at the US city in a different aircraft.
Air India stranded passengers depart from Krasnoyarsk
The airline posted on its official X account, ”Flight no. AI1179 lands safely in San Francisco at 2027 Hrs local time (20 July). We are thankful to the Government of India, DGCA, Embassy of India in Moscow, the Russian officials, US Customs and Border Protection, Krasnoyarsk International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and all the partners who all supported in the situation”.
Air India has also stated they have also arranged an on-ground support system for assisting the passengers with the clearance formalities upon their arrival at the San Francisco International Airport. The airline mentioned, ”The team at SOF is all set to provide the required assistance to the flyers, including support on ground transportation, medical aid, and onward connections in relevant cases.”
An appreciation of thanks was extended to the Russian Foreign Ministry and other authorities by the Embassy of India in Moscow for their support during the crisis. In a social media post, the Embassy expressed its gratitude to the Krasnoyarsk Krai Government, security officials, and airport authorities for assisting them.
Assistance for the passengers on arrival
Earlier, an interpreter was deported for the assistance of the stranded passengers by the Indian Embassy in Moscow. The airline also made sure that food and beverages were provided to the flyers as they were waiting for the arrival of their relief flight.
The Tata-owned airline expressed remorse for the inconvenience caused to the passengers because of the rerouting of the flight. The airline stated that the decision was made in the best interest of the passenger’s safety.
