The Union Budget will be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 23, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Saturday. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be presenting the Budget.
The Budget Session of the Parliament will be held between July 22 and August 12, Rijiju said.
In a post on X, Rijiju said, “Hon’ble President of India, on the recommendation of Government of India, has approved the proposal for summoning of both the Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session, 2024 from 22nd July, 2024 to 12 August, 2024 (Subject to exigencies of Parliamentary Business).”
This will be the first budget presented by the BJP-led NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its third term amid high anticipation following President Droupadi Murmu’s assertion that it will be marked by many “historic” steps.
The President, in her address to a joint sitting of Parliament on June 27, said the full Union Budget will have “far-reaching policies and futuristic visions”.
“This Budget will be an effective document of the Government’s far-reaching policies and futuristic vision. Along with major economic and social decisions, many historic steps will also be seen in this Budget,” Murmu said. She added that the pace of reforms will be further accelerated, in tune with the aspirations of the people for rapid development.
In February, an interim Budget was presented due to the Lok Sabha elections, which were held from April 19-June 1. The results were declared on June 4.
