Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha today. Budget 2024 became the center of memes and jokes even before it was presented.
In a move to support the middle class, the government increased the standard deduction by 50% to ₹75,000 and adjusted tax slabs under the new income tax regime, aiming to put more money into the hands of salaried individuals and encourage higher consumption.
Andhra Pradesh received an allocation of Rs 15,000 crore to develop its capital Amaravati. Bihar on the other hand received Rs 26,000 crore for various road projects in the state.
