Qubo, the consumer technology arm of Hero Electronix, is rapidly strengthening its presence in India’s growing connected car market. Moving beyond its smart home roots, the company has positioned itself as a key player in road safety and vehicle monitoring solutions.
In a major move, Qubo has brought on Indian cricketer KL Rahul and actor Athiya Shetty as equity investors, according to an official statement.
Launched in 2019, Qubo offers a wide range of products across smart home and connected auto categories. Its portfolio includes dashcams, AI-powered security cameras, smart door locks and video doorbells, all powered by its in-house technology and designed to work within a connected ecosystem.
Founder and CEO Nikhil Rajpal said the company’s vision is to make everyday life safer and more convenient, both at home and on the road. “KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty represent a modern Indian family that values technology, and their investment reflects strong belief in Qubo’s mission,” Rajpal said.
“We have been using Qubo products for a while now and have experienced firsthand the magic they create working seamlessly together; in fact realizing their incredible value even more after becoming parents,” Rahul and Athiya said.
Welcoming the move, Ujjwal Munjal, Vice Chairman of Hero Electronix, said “We have great admiration for Rahul & Athiya as accomplished professionals in their respective fields. Their modern outlook while staying rooted in Indian family values aligns well with Qubo’s commitment to innovation & trust.”
Through this partnership, Qubo also plans to leverage the couple’s popularity to strengthen its appeal among young, tech-savvy consumers.
Market analysis for 2026 indicates that Qubo’s success is largely driven by its “Indianized” engineering. Most products are designed to withstand extreme temperatures (up to 85°C) and utilize supercapacitors instead of lithium batteries, which are prone to overheating in Indian summers.
The Indian automotive camera market is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 20% through 2032. Qubo appears well-leveraged to capitalize on this, particularly as insurance companies begin to favor vehicles equipped with dashboard evidence. While competition from brands like 70mai and boAt remains stiff, Qubo’s advantage lies in its localized service network, offering authorized installation in over 70 cities—a crucial factor for a market that is technically savvy but still dependent on local mechanics.
