Hyundai Motor India has launched the new-generation Verna in India at an introductory price of Rs. 10.90 lakh and going up to Rs. 17.37 lakh, ex-showroom. The design of the new Verna is a leap far away from the previous-generation fluidic concept and might be hit-or-miss. The body lines are crisp and sharp balanced by a sloping roofline.
The 2023 Hyundai Verna has 2 engines on offer – The old naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine that churns 115hp and 143.8 Nm mated to a 6-speed manual as standard. It also gets the option of an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). The carmaker has claimed a mileage of 18.6 kmpl (MT) and 19.6 kmpl (IVT) with this engine.

Designwise, the next-generation Verna is entirely different from the model it replaces and it features a very hard-to-miss massive black grille flanked by split LED headlights, an LED light bar across the bonnet, a sloping roofline as well as multi-spoke alloy wheels. The new Hyundai Verna top-spec SX (O) 7DCT version is priced at Rs. 17.38 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Verna can be booked against a token amount of Rs. 25,000.
The next-generation Hyundai Verna has been launched at an introductory starting price of Rs. 10,89,900 ex-showroom.
Tarun Garg, COO, HMIL takes the stage and says that it aims to sell twice the volume with the 2023 Hyundai Verna. Claims to have received 8,000 bookings in one month.
Features on offer include an electric sunroof, electronic parking brake, LED headlights, tail lamps, an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system, ventilated front seats and three drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport.
The next-generation Hyundai Verna will house a free-standing dual-screen setup with two 10.25-inch fully digital screens. One will be an instrument cluster and the other will be a touchscreen infotainment system. Lower and mid-level variants will get a dual-tone black and off-white theme while the top-end trim(s) get an all-black cabin with contrasting red highlights.
The 2023 Hyundai Verna will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and the 2023 Honda City.
A 6-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine will get the choice of a 7-speed DCT while the naturally aspirated petrol engine will get the option of a CVT.
The 2023 Verna will be powered be the same 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 112 bhp and 144 Nm as before. It will also get a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that belts out 158 bhp and 253 Nm torque. No diesel engine will be on offer with the 2023 Verna.
The 2023 Hyundai Verna will feature a split-headlamp setup at the front alongside a massive radiator grille flanked by the main headlight unit on both sides. A thin LED strip runs the breadth of the car. The new Verna is all about sharp character lines complemented with a sloping roof.
