Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the richest temple in the country, is all set to become a completely ?e-enabled temple? through integration of all activities of the temple right from entry to exit including the pilgrims? trekking system. The proposed fool proof system is expected to be completed in the next two years.

An in-house team of TTD along with the technology providers include TCS, Megasoft and Bartronics. They are in tandem to make the integration linking across all the departments of TTD. There is no temple in the country which is fully integrated under the IT umbrella, though there are partial IT usage such as online bookings, or e-hundi or e-temples. The organisation already had some technology initiatives such as online reservation and RFID tags.

?We have launched an ambitious programme to adapt IT in serving the pilgrims more effectively. The technology upgradation of the ERP systems is under way and will ensure virus free and ?flap free? environment at TTD across 48 departments that are working to streamline the administration at both backoffice and frontoffice units,?? Bhaskar, head, electronic data processing (EDP), TTD, told FE.

He said adaptation of IT will put an end to manual handling of sevas, accommodation and other crucial functions in the temple administration. Currently, all the security installations of TTD, both at Tirumala and Tirupati, are manned by HCL. Other portals are configured and supported by TCS.

The TTD already operates a 24×7 call centre offering information to callers on services, sevas, accommodation and also about darshan available at Tirumala.
