The bodies of three people who were trapped at the site of a newly constructed concrete water tank which collapsed on Monday inside the Usha Martin factory premises at Gamharia, 20 km from here, have been recovered.
Four persons working for construction company Shapoorji Pallonji & Co got trapped under the debris of a newly constructed 500-kilolitre capacity concrete water tank which gave way at around 12:30 pm on Monday inside Usha Martin?s works here.
While one of them had a miraculous escape, three others got trapped.
According to Usha Martin spokesperson Ravi Srivastava the bodies of the three persons —-Md Shammim, Sajid and Younus?all aged around 30 years?were recovered from the debris in the wee hours of Tuesday, after a long and difficult search which included participation of an army team.
Usha Martin was getting built the overhead water tank by Shapoorji Pallonji and another construction company for ensuring water supply to the company?s steel melting shop (SMS) and rod mill, both of which are located not far from the tank site.
Although an FIR has been lodged with the Gamharia police regarding the accident, sources said Shapoorji Pallonji has paid a compensation amount of Rs 5.25 lakh to the families of each of the deceased.
