The game has changed from Hertz and Bites andnow to Touch! And why not? Often we had underestimated the power of touch and it was only after ?iPhone?, that we realised the power of touch. But at times the selling price makes these touch-enabled devices ?untouchable? for the common man.

HTC launched its new Windows-based phone ?HD2? with ?Capacitive? touch interface and a large and bright 4.3-inch touch display. Most of the fascia of the rather large (12.05 X 6.7 X 1.1 cm) phone is taken up by the display, except for an array of five small keys on the bottom. The rounded corners and charcoal-black, curved back gives it an uncanny resemblance to iPhone, but the similarity ends there. A protruding square housing for the 5.0 megapixel auto focus camera, flanked by flashlight and multimedia speaker on the rear cover, breaks the otherwise sleek and slim silhouette.

Powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 with proprietary ?HTC Sense? interface and Qualcomm 1GHz ?Snapdragon? processor, the HD2 offers more intuitive and enhanced performance. The ?Capacitive touch? technology on the display makes viewing videos and pictures easier. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled HD2 comes with MicroSD memory card slot, FM radio, Google Maps & Digital Compass, World Card Mobile for reading business cards and a 1230 mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with a talktime of around 240 minutes.

The HTC HD2 also available for the Tata DoCoMo customers with an exclusive offer to browse the Internet and free download 500 MB of data every month for six months.

The other touch device on Windows platform is HP?s ?All-in-One? form factor PC TouchSmart600. The touch-enabled 23-inch full HD (1080p, 16:9) LCD display looks impressive. On top of the display panel, it has a built-in webcamera with a lever on the rear to adjust the tilt angle of the lens. On the right-side panel, it has the power-on button, slot-loading Super Multi DVD Writer, volume control and a 6-in-1 digital media card reader.

Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (T6500) with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a hefty 640 GB hard disk, the Touch Smart600 comes preloaded with Windows7 Home Premium featuring enhanced IR Multi-Touch technology. The embedded HP TouchSmart3.0 software features a customisable interface and interactive tiles . The very bright full HD display, inbuilt mini hybrid TV tuner card, full function remote and rather powerful stereo audio output also qualifies the ?HD600? as a personal high performance television for watching HD contents and playing games.
