Declining to grant an urgent hearing to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt?s interim bail application, the Supreme Court on Friday said all matters connected with the actor?s case would be considered on August 20. Currently, Dutt is serving a six-year term for possessing illegal arms.
?We want to follow uniform approach,? Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan said when Dutt?s counsel mentioned Dutt?s bail application for hearing.
?We are not going to pass any order now. We will consider all connected matters on August 20,? the two-judge Bench, which also consists of Justice RV Raveendran said. The apex court also rejected the plea that the interim bail application be taken up on Monday and issued notice to the CBI. Dutt?s advocate said the actor is yet to get a copy of the TADA court?s verdict. ?It would not be possible to get the copy of judgment before August 24,? Dutt?s counsel said. However, the Bench said it could hear the matter without getting a copy of the judgment.
