Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has achieved a record production of 44.542 million tonne (mt) in the FY 2008-09 against a target of 41.50 mt. With an achievement of 107%, the company has for the seventh consecutive year surpassed the coal production targets after a turnaround since 2002-03.
Coal production has witnessed a highest growth rate in last 15 years at 9.7% year-on-year. Following the achievement, the company has set a target for the year 2009-10 at 50.4 mt. Besides, four new projects, which include Dorli-II, Abbapur, Indaram in Adilabad district, JK5 in Khammam distrit and Kondapuram in Khammam district, are being planned to be opened in 2009-10.
The company has achieved an all-time record in coal dispatches. Of the 44.4 mt of coal dispatched, 32.02 mt has been dispatched to power sector, 29.65 mt to power utilities and 2.37 mt to captive power units.
Coal dispatches to APGenco power station stood at 12.15 mt against fuel supply agreement of 10.08 mt during 2008-09, which is all-time high of 120% of linkage. Similarly, coal supplies to NTPC Ramagundam, was about 12.05 mt and stood at 118% of the linkage during this financial year.
Incidentally, none of the power stations linked to SCCL were critical and had no necessity to import expensive coal as opposed to 39 thermal power stations which are still critical.
