Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janta Dal on Wednesday released its election manifesto, promising creation of 15 lakh jobs in industries, disburse agriculture loan at 3% interest rate and exemption of electricity duty on power used by farmers.

Asserting that BJD is determined to make Orissa a prosporous state, the paty manifesto emphasises on industries and agriculture. Micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) would get government support, sick industries would be revived and handloom and handicrafts would also be given incentives for their growth.

Besides cheap loan and duty-free power, irrigations will get maximum attention. Agriculture-based industries would be encouraged in the state at the same time.

Promising to make Orissa a hunger-free zone, the manifesto says that all the people belonging to economically weaker section would be provided rice at Rs 2 per kg.

To improve the financial situation of the state, BJD would make an endeavour to increase the reveune resources. Particularly, the emphasis would be on expanding the non-tax base.

BDJ supremo Naveen Patnaik released the book at a function held at the party office here on Wednesday. Patnaik said his government has tried to fullfil some of the promises it made in the past during the last 9 years of its rule. He assured that coming to power, his government would seriously pursue the promises made in the manifesto.
