After postponing it for several years, Jharkhand, which is among the last few states in the country that have not yet unbundled their power boards, is now set to form four independent companies from the existing Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) .

Talking to FE on the sidelines of an interactive session with members of the Jharkhand CII on Tuesday, Jharkhand chief secretary RS Sharma, when asked how soon JSEB?s unbundling could take place, said, ?We are going to do it very soon, in a couple of weeks? time?.

JSEB has appointed Power Finance Corporation (PFCL) as its consultant for unbundling the board into separate utilities for generation, transmission and distribution. The board is thus set to be split into a holding company and three subsidiary companies in the areas of transmission, generation and distribution.

Earlier, addressing CII Jharkhand members here, the chief secretary said, ?We are on the last leg of the reforms; we have taken all the decisions that were required to be taken for the unbundling of the electricity board into production, transmission and distribution utilities.?
