Congress MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday resumed his controversial odarpu yatra in Prakasam district. A day after his fathers first anniversary, Jaganmohan left his family estate at Idupulapaya in Kadapa on Friday morning and arrived at Giddaluru from where the yatra started after he unveiled the statue of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Jaganmohan is learnt to have politely refused AICC in-charge of Andhra affairs Veerappa Moilys request not to oppose the Congress high command and stop the yatra.

The third leg of odarpu yatra began as the Congress high command announced that it would pay Rs one lakh to the families of all those who allegedly died of shock after hearing of YSRs death last September 2. Though Jagan is supposed to meet 41 bereaved families, he will tour 290 villages covering all the 12 Assembly constituencies in Prakasam district and wrap up his tour 25 days later.

Prakasam is a Congress strongholdof the 12 MLAs in the district, 10 are from the Congress, including minister for mines Balineni Srinivas Reddy. While most of the Congress MLAs are expected to extend support to Jagan and attend his rally, even minister Srinivas Reddy has thrown his weight behind him. However, Ongole MP M Srinivasulu Reddy and Bapatla MP and Union minister of state for textiles Panabaka Lakshmi have distanced themselves from Jaganmohan.
