The Aditya Birla group is to be the title partner of Intaglio, the annual international business school meet of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C), scheduled to be held from January 4 to 6, 2008, according to Sarfaraz Khimani, External Relations Secretary.
Intaglio has also secured a knowledge partnership with India Business Forum, a London Business School body. The IBF, a forum for global business leaders, academicians, financiers, entrepreneurs and students, will work jointly with Intaglio to make it a truly international meet, Khimani said.
Vijay Nair, events coordinator, said more confirmations are expected from other international schools soon.
Intaglio also launched its new website: http://www.iimc-intaglio.com , and the site has received thousands of hits from 22 countries across the world, which is testimony to the “stature of IIM Calcutta and Intaglio in the eyes of the world,” the organizers said.
Among the awards is the Swiss Knife honour, given to the best overall team, the one that outperforms the competition consistently across the diverse events. Swiss Knife carries a prize money of Rs 200,000, a trophy and a surprise gift for each member of the winning team.
“Over 1500 students had registered for Swiss Knife last year, and this year we are expecting the figure to go beyond 2000,” said Prashi Agarwal, events coordinator.
Lalit Modi, campus relations coordinator, said, “Intaglio attracts some of the largest international participation, and it is set to grow even higher this year.”
It has already received confirmation of participation from over a dozen foreign B-schools, including the Ivy League ones.
Growing from the 40 Indian B-schools and 60 foreign schools last year, Intaglio has invited the top 60 institutes in India and close to 120 schools from across continents.
This apart, Intaglio has also opened up to corporate participation this year, with the launch of its new corporate quiz series “Curiosio”.
Executives from over 40 major corporate houses, including the top investment banks, consulting firms and marketing majors, have registered to participate in 8 of the major events at Intaglio.
The theme for Intaglio 2007-08 is “Reaching Out? Staying Ahead”.
Suvrajyoti Pattanaik, overall coordinator, said Intaglio 2007-08 stands for this “yearning to reach out to the future, the courage to experiment and the urge to stay ahead.”
