Hospitality major Hilton Worldwide plans to add five to seven properties on an annualised basis in India. The hotel company has just three operational hotels in the country. During the current year, it plans to open six to seven new hotel properties. It will be adding a room inventory of 1,200 with these six to seven new properties this year.
Talking to Fe , Martin Rinck, president ? Asia-Pacific, Hilton Worldwide, said, ?We currently have just three trading assets (hotels) in the country, including two in New Delhi and one in Mumbai. We expect to double our trading assets this year. On an annualised basis, opening five to seven hotel properties will be more or less the norm.? Some of the cities which will see Hilton properties coming in include Chennai, Bangalore and Gurgaon.
He added that the company’s prime focus is on full-service brands in the country at the moment. These include brands like Hilton, Conrad Hotels & Resorts and Doubletree.
Hilton has around 19 new hotels under various stages of development in India and expects them to be up and running within four-five years. ?A similar number of hotels are under consideration as well,? said Rinck.
Of the total 10 brands under its umbrella, the company has plans for six brands for India including Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton and Waldorf Astoria. With 19 hotels, the company will be adding 3,607 rooms.
To break it down, there are two Conrads, five Hilton, five DoubleTree, three Hilton Garden Inn and four Hampton are under various stages of development in the country.
