Chief minister Narendra Modi was on Monday lauded by Major General Iqbal Singh Singha, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army?s Golden Katar Division, who said the chief minister had all the qualities of an army commander, because ?he keeps deadlines for completion of work and ensures that the target is achieved by the set time.?

Modi?s programmes were all ?aimed at development of both the state and the nation?, the general said.

General Singha was speaking at the three-day ?Know Your Army? exhibition organised by the Golden Katar Division of the Army, which Modi inaugurated.

General Singha also sought land from Modi for housing schemes for ex-servicemen. In his address, Modi urged industrial houses to invest in research and development in arms manufacturing to make the country self-dependent in the field.

He also appealed to young engineers to take interest in research and production of arms. Modi said the state was considering launching a Naval NCC training programme in all schools to enthuse students to join the Indian Navy.
