The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) presented the final study report on the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) to the railway ministry on Friday. Sources said the final report was the same as the final draft report and differs with the earlier study done by RITES.
The JICA report has estimated the cost of constructing the two arms of the DFC at about Rs 49,900 crore, almost double the ministry?s estimate. The JBIC report has taken into account a number of factors that have led to the higher estimate for construction the DFC, including costs of locomotives; cost escalation, a proposed inland container depot at Gurgaon. Railway Bhawan sources also said the ministry was in touch with JICA over some of the findings of the report.
