Explosions result of govt going soft on terror, alleges BJP

Accusing the government for its being ?soft on terror? the party said, serial blasts, like the ones which took place on Friday in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi, could not be undertaken without precise planning and co-ordination and this proved ?gross intelligence failure?.

Refusing to buy the government?s argument that it?s difficult to provide security at un-guarded places like district court campuses, where the blasts took place, senior BJP leader LK Advani, while raising the issue in the Parliament, said, ?We could have accepted government?s plea provided the blasts would not have been serial in nature and at three different places. It?s a clear case of failure of intelligence, as such kind of blasts can take place only with meticulous planning and co-ordination.?

Echoing the sentiments of his senior party colleague, BJP chief Rajnath Singh said, as the government is ?going soft on terror, innocent people are paying the price?. ?Terrorists are striking at will. They are getting bolder and it is a challenge to the rule of law,? he said while reiterating the party?s demand that country needed a ?Pota like law?.

Singh and senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi will visit the blast sites on Saturday.

Joshi in his reaction said, the terrorists are attacking India with a design. ?Repeatedly they have been targeting our institutions–political, economic, scientific or religious and cultural. Now this time for the first time they have targeted judiciary with blasts in court campuses. It?s dangerous and if we want to contain and curb the trend, we need to have collective wisdom above party lines.?

Agreeing to the fact that terrorist attacks took place during the NDA regime also, deputy leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj said, but those were retaliatory in nature because the AB Vajpayee government was coming down heavily on them.
