Aftab Sheikh, the DySP who along with his bodyguards allegedly beat up Mughal Road workers Wednesday night, was Friday booked for attempt to murder. They have also been booked under the Arms Act.
Poonch SSP Manmohan Singh said they will approach IGP, J&K Armed Police, to which Sheikh and his men belong to, for their custody.
Sheikh and his four bodyguards were driving on Mughal Road towards Poonch when they were stopped by workers and engineers as the road is yet to be opened to traffic. Allegedly drunk, they beat up the workers and also fired in air to scare them away
SSP Singh said that about a fortnight ago, Sheikh had beat up a staff of the Hindustan Construction Company, which is building the road, near Shopian.
