After signing gas sale purchase agreement (GSPA) with the Reliance Industries for the supply 2.7 mmscmd of gas for the belearuged Dabhol project, the Ratnagiri Gas & Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL) will sign gas transportation deals with the Reliance Gas Transportation and GAIL India. The tariff for this purpose will be decided after it is cleared by the petroleum and natural gas regulatory board. RGPPL at its board meeting scheduled for Wednesday gave its approval for these agreements.

RGPPL sources told FE ?The gas agreement between RGPPL and RIL is for the transportation of gas through east west pipeline from Gadi Moga (Andhra Pradesh) to Mhaskal (Maharashtra). As far as deal with GAIL is concerned it is for the gas transportation from Mhaskal to the project site through Dabhol Dahej pipeline. The tariff for the same will be subject to the approval of the Petroleum & Natural Gas regulatory Board.? Currently, the project is generating 900 mw and it is expected to achieve a full load of 1,940 mw by March next year.

According to sources,1.4 mmscmd of gas was transported during January-March this year while another 0.7 mmscmd of gas is tied up for April-September. From September onwards 8.5 mmscmd of gas will be transported from the KG D6 field. Therefore, the signing of gas transportation agreements with Reliance Gas Transportation and GAIL India was necessary.
