Trust me, some beautiful things give you joy that last longer than the things themselves or as John Keats begins his famous poem Endymion with the line: ?A thing of beauty is a joy forever!?

It looks spectacularly beautiful, almost like it is straight off the catwalk of a beauty pageant! You may accuse me of falling in love at first sight with this little ?Zen?, but I am not alone. Anybody and everybody who saw this little beauty in my hand shares my feelings.

Zen Mobile Company, known for its portfolio of trendy and stylish phones, has recently launched a cute little wonder, ?Z90?, in India.

Though smitten by the beauty of this very compact (68mm x 68mm x 16mm, with rounded corners and tapered edges) ?Zen Z90?, I still managed to venture underneath the beautiful exterior.

Well! To start with, it has a very bright and crisp 2.4-inch TFT, touch screen display panel on the top bezel and on the under-side it has the 3 mega pixel camera lens and a tiny slit opening for the mono, but very powerful speaker. The topside panel has just three buttons?one each to increase or decrease the volume and one with red marking to trigger the camera.

On the opposite side-panel, it has a solitary mini USB port for charging and connectivity.

Hold the palm sized ?Zen? in your hand and give the top panel a little push with your thump and voila! The top panel twists up with spring-loaded precision, revealing a hidden and well laid out keypad with rather big and nicely spaced keys?not heard or seen these days. This unique twist and slide mechanism also switches on the touch sensitivity of the display panel.

The feature-rich ?Z90? comes with dual SIM (GSM + GSM) functionality and multimedia applications for music, watching movies and videos on the widescreen. You can listen and record real-time MP3 music, video and wireless FM radio. The mono speaker on the rear pumps out real loud audio without much (tolerable) distortion. To store all your multimedia stuff, including photos, videos and music, the phone memory can be expanded to 4GB by using a micro SD card.

It also comes preloaded with themes that enable you to choose between multiple user interfaces and has a phone book and SMS capacity of 1,000 each. For connectivity options, it adheres to GPRS, Bluetooth and USB2 standards. The stylish ?Z90? is capable of most of the smartphone features, including reminder of appointments, birthdays, latest events with notes, calendar, calculator, converter, world clock, stop watch and games etc.

The Li-ion battery has enough juice for 2.5 hours of talk and 240 hours of standby time.

The inbuilt camera is just functional and may lack in picture quality and also the absence of a zoom feature and flash-light may pinch you, but then the Zen Z90 is not designed to take pictures with; rather, it is designed to be taken pictures along with. The features, specifications and functionality of the ?Z90? are beyond comparison to any other phone and it is an affordable style statement.
