Chennai-based Bay Talkitec, a pioneer in the Customer Interaction Management (CIM) solutions and value-added services (VAS) in the country has forayed into mobile VAS, a fast growing segment estimated to be worth Rs 8400 crore. It has also launched its flagship video service delivey platform, targeting 2.5G and 3G networks.
According to D Arunan, co-founder and joint managing director, the offering based on this new platform will revolutionise the application and utility of mobile handsets once regualtions allow 3G to be rolled out in India’.
”Bay Tlakitec is talking to leading telecom operators, media players and mobile advertisers across Singapore, Malaysia, US and other 3-G enabled markets for deployment of its platform,” he said.
He said the new paltform was showcased at ‘CommunicAsia’ recently in Singapore to encouraging trade response. Bay Talkitec has signed up with Saimira Access Technologiues (a Pyramid Saimira group company), to provide Singtel users in Singapore, video clippings of the soon-to-be-released Rajanikanth blockbuster ‘Kuselan’ on their mobile handsets, he said.
Arunan said the new video delivery platform would extend mobile phone’s utility as marketing, entertainment and education medium finding diverse applications in video SMS, video greetings, and mobile TV.
K Sheker, co-founder of Bay Talkitec said the foray into mobile VAS was a logical extension of its present business and it would be the future growth engine for the company. He said in three years, this platform would bring in revenues worth over Rs 100 crore.
Founded in 1991, Bay Talkitec recently received funding of Rs 10 crore from NEA Indo US Ventures, which has Vinod Dham, father of the Pentium, as its executive managing director. Sheker said the funds received and company’s internal accruals were being invested in R & D and marketing. The company was also strengthening its senior management team.
